Although my main focus, experience, and training is in helping to support children, I also have extensive training and experience in helping to support adults dealing with grief and loss.
My experience has been co-facilitating bereavement groups for adults, and providing one-to-one counselling support.
I have also had the oppotunity to provide workshops and presentations to adults in the communities I have worked in on how to help support children dealing with grief and loss and noticed something interesting.
My favourite part of putting on workshops and presentations is making it as experiential as possible so people can hopefully more easily remember what they learned on how to help support children. All participants get to try art and play activities and learn about story creations to experience what it might be like for the children they are helping support.
The feedback I have received from adult workshop participants was that is was helpful to process their own thoughts and feelings about death and dying through the playful art they created often in memory of their loved ones.
With these experiences, I believe that it can be helpful for people of any age to process thoughts and feelings through a variety of ways.
Feelings of grief do not go away with time. They can change. They can shift. It is about how you would like to process your thoughts and feelings about your grief and loss that can create hopefully helpful changes in your life.
My hope is to provide a safe, non-judmental space for you to process your thoughts and feelings in whichever way feels most helpful for you whether that would be making art, creating stories, writing music, or talking.
